Founded by a teacher who learned Norwegian from scratch.
OhoLingo was founded by Elena Zhyhaltsova, an experienced language teacher with more than ten years of teaching behind her.
Born in Ukraine in 1994, Elena spent many years teaching English before moving to Norway in 2022. Like thousands of newcomers, she began learning Norwegian from scratch — and soon noticed that many Ukrainian immigrants were facing exactly the same challenges.
Many found Norwegian grammar far easier to grasp when it was explained in a familiar language. Yet the learning materials were scattered across different sources, making it hard to connect individual topics and see how the language actually fits together.
This inspired Elena to create a different kind of Norwegian course — one that explains grammar in a simple, logical way and helps students build their knowledge step by step.
In 2023, she launched her first Norwegian course. It quickly gained popularity and earned outstanding feedback. Over the following years, Elena created several more online courses that have helped thousands of learners improve their Norwegian and pass the Norskprøve exams at A2, B1, and B2 levels.
